Forget the temperatures that have dropped. Monday night inside the Don Haskins
Center, a dapper Luis Miguel raised the heat as he melted hearts with his sultry
songs.
For more than an hour, the Latin superstar kept the masses enthralled as he took
them through a musical journey of two decades of performing.
He started the night with "Vuelve" from his new release, "33," tabbed so after
the singer's age. And by the sounds of the screams, it looks like 33 is going to
be a good year for the crooner.
Always a sophisticated dresser, Luis Miguel took the stage in a sharp black suit
and crisp white shirt. His moves were controlled and subtle as he performed songs
from the new album including "Eres" and "Un Te Amo."
He warmly greeted the fans, telling him he always appreciates the welcome he
receives in El Paso. And the crowd offered him more love with their applause.
But it was when he sang songs from his older albums that women turned to squealing
girls. He delighted them with "Amor, Amor, Amor," "Perfidia," and "Por Debajo De
La Mesa."
Many times, it seemed like he was serenading only one. But the piercing screams
always revealed that he was singing to thousands.
As the night wore on, he became more relaxed and started interacting more with
the audience. He smiled his perfect smile for the already smitten women, and he
started to bring out more of his sex appeal as he moved to the music.
As he became more relaxed, he changed outfits. He went from the formal to the
casual as he donned a pair of slacks with a velvety jacket. He later became
truly playful, no longer just walking across the stage but sprinting. And he
once again took the audience to his youthful days, singing such teeny bopper
hits as "La Incondicional" and "Sera Que No Me Amas."
With the song "Cuando Calienta El Sol," came the silver and red streamers, bursts
of confetti and fireworks on background screens.
Throughout the night, several screens flashed his youthful face and captured every
expression. He sang flawlessly, never losing his breath and always with his
signature rich voice.
He ended the night with only one encore, "Te Necesito," the latest release from
his album, in black pants and a very open white shirt.
