MONTEVIDEO – Besides offering a concert to entertain his fans, Mexican singer Luis Miguel is currently reveling in the luxury and glamour of the Uruguayan seaside resort of Punta del Este, where he has enjoyed gourmet dishes and playing roulette at the casino, sources at his hotel told Efe on Tuesday.
The 41-year-old singer arrived Saturday in a private plane to the Atlantic coastal city frequented by Argentines and Brazilians during the Southern Hemisphere summer.
He is staying in a $7,500-a-night suite at the Hotel Casino Conrad.
Accompanied by his agent, a housekeeper and two bodyguards that never leave his side, Luis Miguel requested that his room be kept at a constant temperature of 23 C (73 F), and be enriched with vanilla candles, floral arrangements and vintage tequila from a famous Mexican distillery.
After dinner on Saturday night “he tried his luck at roulette” in a gaming room for preferred clients, the sources said without revealing whether fortune had smiled on him or not.
The concert, given at the same hotel and attended by 1,600 special guests, began close to midnight Monday and ended in the wee hours.
Onstage the “Sun of Mexico” sang such hits as “Te Propongo” (I Propose to You), “Suave” (Softly), “Con Tus Besos” (With Your Kisses), “Tres Palabras” (Three Words), and “La Barca” (The Boat) – and the guests never stopped applauding.
